It has taken me four long practice sessions to be any quicker than my own Gordini time so I have zero chance at this one! :(

Not much training for me so far but I am almost ready for the race. I did not have time to play around with the setup so Beal Valley 60s it is. As for lap times, PB of 6:28 closely followed by Paul (6:29). In yesterday's session we already started practicing (for Tuesday) parallels and tachycardias all over the track and then I learned how to kill myself in a couple of places

P.S. Missing Cayo, Regor, Thierry, Aitor & _nes now that we are approaching the last part of the championship :lloro:

Unfortunately I just didn't find the motivation to even download the track in the two weeks inbetween Pacific Raceways and this. Hoping to be back for the next one. :)

Thanks organising and hosting.

These period tracks are perfect for the 55 cars including this 1949 layout of Brno.

I made a good start and took the lead with Clive's Ferrari behind.
By lap 2 Gaizka had passed Clive into 2nd. I could just see the blue car in my mirror so I guess I had 4 or 5 seconds on him.

It came down to the last lap.

As soon as Gaizka passed I was looking to re-pass quickly or I knew he would get away.
The plan worked out well but I had to take risks.

We followed the yellow brick road through Kohoutovice to the last chicane.

At the time I thought Gaizka had clipped the hay and slowed which is why I tagged him, but after looking at the replay it was all my mistake.

Anyway, we had a bump and I spun. By the time I turned around Gaiz was too far ahead to catch.

Great race that could have been greater without that last lap touch.

Well done Gaizka and all that finished.

Thanks all for racing :piloto:

I saw the replay and it is impressive to see Gaizka and Paul riding together battling for position :piloto: :baba:

Too bad Jorge missed the train at the start, otherwise it would have been another incentive there in front :cabreo:

I didn't manage to be fast here  ... I didn't even get my best time in the qualifying ... maybe because it was difficult to focus on the race after the difficulties to connect to the server and launch the race :jo: ... at least I got the confidence to ride until the end  ... so I started from the back ... we passed Jorge when he had his first lap slip up ... but then he came like a plane and I let him pass because it made no sense to hold him ... and I could ride until the end doing slow but steady laps so I caught up with Quico and Martin

As a result of all these ups and downs I look like uncle gilito taking 3 points in this race :reygreen: 1 for the 6th place another for the consistency in tough competition with Clive and the other for the comeback ... which compensates the good bag of points that Clive takes for his podium :bien: and makes me stay there in the battle
Thanks all for racing :piloto:

Sounds like it was a terrific battle for the win. Grats to Gaizka for prevailing and kudos to Paul for a close P2. Good job by Clive to snag P3.

I had quite an entertaining run to P5. I had hopes of P4 for a short while til Jorge spoiled that idea. Still, quite pleased to get home alive and with a new personal best in the Maser.

Off the start, I was pinned behind the slow-starting Gordinis and had to give way to Martin. There was drama on the opening lap as I came across a Gordini parked in the weeds and felt certain that I'd not see that little French puddle-jumper again. Only moments later, Martin had trouble with a chicane and I had the chance to skip by but in so doing, I road over a curb badly and this propelled me straight into a lamp post. BAM! I ricocheted off the post and was able to continue not hardly believing that I didn't lose a wheel. The Maser didn't seemed too badly hurt by this gaffe and as we finished the opening lap, I was close enough to Martin to get a slipstream pass down into the hairpin at Veselka. Over the balance of Lap02, I was able to pull away cleanly from Martin so felt quite enthused about that P4 finish. Half way through Lap03 and I caught site of a car closing in my mirrors. A Gordini? Nah... Couldn't be. Sigh... Yup. This was Jorge in the Gordini and it was he who I'd seen off the road on Lap01. I couldn't fathom how he could have recovered from that off so fast to challenge me. It looked like it was going to be El Pinar deja vu.

Being faster is one thing but passing is quite another. Over the balance of Lap03, I was able to lead but on the long run down to Veselka, Jorge slipstreamed by for the position. Top end trials at Circuito Bloodbath show that the Gordini is only down one mile/hour in speed compared to the Maser so I wasn't surprised that Jorge gunned me down. Apparently, I was feeling a little friskier than I might otherwise normally be with eye to survival and coming off Veselka, I gassed it hard and got a run on Jorge before we reached the next corner. Just managed to slip by with a hair's breadth to spare. Jorge counter-attacked in the next section to re-pass but then got crossed-up entering a village and I was able to take over again. Keen stuff!

Starting Lap05, it was a repeat of the previous lap. Jorge got the run on me down to Veselka and was through for the place. Again, I measured my chances for a pass up to the grove but this time, I thought the better of it and decided to stand down from a further assault. This let Jorge scamper away cleanly and that was that. For the balance of the lap and race, I was just content to bring the Maser home in one piece...and almost didn't having stuffed it into the haybales where Martin did on Lap01. I was getting a bit fatigued and was happy to get it home in P5.

A great circuit for these period cars.
Those who do not learn from history will be condemned to relive its mistakes.
