Somewhat disappointed in my qualifying efforts. I couldn't get within 3/10 of my pre-race marker as I repeatedly buggered up 'The 90' leading onto to the pit straight. Started P7 behind Xuggy's Merc who put down a fine lap in qualifying.
Very fortunate off the grid to ace Xuggy for the place going up through the Esses to snatch P6. Gradually pulled away from Xuggy to engage in a race-long pursuit of Tago's Lancia. Shocked to see a Lancia cartwheeling through the air on Lap03 as I set for Big Bend. This was poor Clive ending his day early. Bad luck there and two consecutive DNF's.
Now up to P5, Tago was laying down fast and consistent laps fending off my efforts to pressure him into a mistake. Never more than about one second behind, many a lap I was right on his tail. From the SFline down to 'The Loop', Tago was gold and I couldn't close down. However, there were laps where he swung dangerously wide in The Loop and this allowed me to pick up his slipstream and be a real threat on the back straight. It was, however, never a case where I felt confident enough in mounting a bid to challenge. I was pleased that I wasn't making a hash of The 90 being careful to not overdo my entry. The old adage of 'in slow, out fast' was never more valid. Got a bit of scare 3-4 laps from the finish as in exiting The Loop right behind Tago, his image started to jump about a bit. Relieved to report that it soon smoothed out and a quick glance at my NET bars showed that they were stable. Just a stray electron getting in the mix of signals from Europe to Canada and back again. Finished up just one second behind after a great run by both myself and Tago. On my cool-down lap, I pulled alongside Tago to give him a wave and a thumbs up for a fine drive. Pulled over onto the grass verge and escaped to the menu page...
Hold on... Doni P4. P4??? HUH??? In all my laps in hot pursuit of Tago, I was monitoring my pit board as I crossed the SFline only paying attention to Xuggy chasing me and doing a countdown of laps remaining. I had not the slightest notion that poor Paul had fallen off the road in The Loop with his Lancia speared on the guardrail. Groan... Bad luck indeed.
Gaizka a good win in the Ferrari. Ricky keeping the G-man in sight for much of race and having a great run in his Lancia. Tago a most worthy podium.
Great to see Quico back in the wars!
Scoring this one a solid 5/5 with no mistakes and a race-long duel with Tago.
Those who do not learn from history will be condemned to relive its mistakes.
Perhaps one of the most important races of my life in this mod and with a fight to the death with none other than the best driver in the world in GPL.
The first 15 laps were a back and forth affair. It took me about 7 laps to get into Gaizka's slipstream and be able to pass him in a loop. Obviously the Lancia is a bit more powerful than the Ferra and with great chivalry the Spaniard let me pass, he got behind me without moving away, like 3 or 4 laps until he recovered his position, but the next lap I got away from him again. In that arduous battle, Paul, who was also coming at a hellish pace, came dangerously close to us. A few laps later, the guy from the Iberian Peninsula passed me again and began to move away little by little while Paul and I fought. Maybe that helped Fernando Alonso's cousin to move away very gradually... Then before the loop, I left the car in 4th gear so that Paul could pass me since he was coming at a better pace than me and I thought that by sticking to his slipstream, we could catch up with Paella. man, but unfortunately I saw that he took a bad loop and he couldn't control it, and he went out of the race... what a pity paul, you were doing spectacular... same clive, I saw the replay and saw that you went out 2 curves before the star finish line... what bad luck, but that's how this mod is, and driving at the limit to not let the catalan escape is more and more demanding.
I don't know how I did it, but I came 2nd, just a few seconds behind the flamenco city man, and I was completely happy and proud, at least for having pushed the best in the world, more than 20 laps, I'm sure that if I had won the race in franca lid, here in mexico it would be declared a national day, yes sir...
thanks for the tremendous race that gaizka and paul put me through, I stayed in bed with nervous shock and emotional shaking, my doctor prescribed me some whiskeys, and I'm better now.
congratulations quico for your return, I hope you keep racing.

quizas una de las carreras mas importantes de mi vida en este mod y con una pelea a muerte con nada menos que el mejor piloto del mundo en GPL.
las primeras 15 vueltas fueron de tome y deme. me costo unas 7 vueltas poder entrar en el rebufo de gaizka y poder pasarlo en loop, obviamente el lancia es un poco mas poderoso que la ferra y con gran caballerosidad el español me dejo pasar, se puso detras mio sin despegarse, como 3 o 4 vueltas hasta que recupero su posicion, pero a la siguente vuelta se la volvi a quitar, en esa ardua batalla, se nos acerfco peligrosamente paul, que venia tambien con un ritmo endemoniado, vueltas mas tarde, el de la penisula iberica me volvio a pasar y se empezo a alejar de poco en poco mientras paul y yo peleabamos, quizas eso ayudo a que el primo de fernando alonso se alejara muy paulatinamente...... despues antes de loop, deje el auto en 4 velocidad para q ue paul me pasara ya que venia con mejor ritmo que yo y pense que pegandome a su rebufo, podriamos alcanzar al paella man, pero desafortunadamente vi que tomo mal loop y no alcanzo a controlarlo, y se salio quedando fuera de carrera...... que lastima paul venias espectacular..... lo mismo clive, vi el replay y vi que te saliste 2 curvas antes de la linea de star finish....que mala suerte, pero asi es este mod, y el manejo al limite para no dejar escapar al catalan es cada vez mas exigente.
no se como hice, pero llegue 2 a muy pocos segundos del flamenco city man, y quede completamente feliz y orgulloso, por lo menos por haber presionado al mejor del mundo, mas de 20 vueltas, estoy seguro que si hubiera ganado la carrera en franca lid, aca en mexico se declararia dia nacional, si señor......
gracias por la tremanda carrera que me hicieron pasar gaizka y paul, quede en la cama con shock nervioso y tembladera emociona, mi medico me reseto unos wiskeys, y ya estoy mejor.

Acabé contento con mi carrera, mejor de lo habitual con este mod. No muy rápido pero tampoco tan distanciado como otras veces, quedé satisfecho de haber sido constante. Quise mirar si al menos en la consistencia había quedado arriba y vi que... fui el peor en esto porque todos estuvimos por debajo del medio segundo! Hicimos una gran carrera entre todos, Gaizka-Enrique-Paul y Tago-Doni fueron duelos fantásticos. A mi al principio me costó dejar atrás a Quico, luego su falta de práctica me lo fue poniendo menos difícil. Condolencias a Clive y Paul.

I ended up happy with my race, better than usual with this mod. Not very fast but not as far away as other times, I was satisfied to have been consistent. I wanted to see if at least I had been on top in terms of consistency and I saw that... I was the worst at this because we were all under half a second! We all did a great race, Gaizka-Enrique-Paul and Tago-Doni were fantastic duels. At first I struggled to let Quico behind, then his lack of practice made it less difficult. Condolences to Clive and Paul.
