Jorge made a rocket start with his Gordini, yes I know that sounds daft but he did! I had my work cut out to establish myself ahead of him by the time that we plunged into the first village.

That meant that I had Paul in front of me and the Gordinis of Jorge and Gaizka squabbling on my exhaust pipe. This lasted until half way around the first lap when Jorge put a wheel of the circuit and his car was pulled sharp right into a barrier.

So then I only had Gaizka to worry about.

I held on to second spot for the first lap but then made a mess of my braking for the sharp right at Veselka. This resulted in my sliding sideways into the bales and Gaizka didn't need another invitation. He was through on the inside and at that point I knew that my best chance was for him to chase off after Paul, in the hope that they might slow each other down a little. No such luck.

I kept them in sight for as long as I could but eventually it was obvious that 3rd was mine to lose but 2nd wasn't on offer.

Fantastic speed from Paul, Gaizka and Jorge.

Thanks for the race.
