LOL Good report Xavier, I think that you have captured the main feature there.

I had a great battle with Sergio for most of the race. It was the corner after passing over the bridge where most activity took place. Sergio made a mistake there early on and I was able to pass him but he came back at me a few laps later.

I will credit Sergio with a great overtaking move at that point but I suspect that he had also run out of brakes and we would have had a big accident if I hadn't spotted him early on.

I set about chasing him but on the next occasion I think that we both ran out of brakes and slithered wide. That cost me too much time and I was never able to get close to him again.

Congratulations to Quico and commiserations to Tago. I know just how that feels!

Grats on a good win, Q! Fine drive for P2, Serio! Ditto for P3, Clive!

Oh, my... Tago... What a disappointment for you. I thought going into this round that it was your's to lose and thanks to a most unexpected and distressing engine failure, it came to pass. I watched your revolutions from the cockpit view in the replay cap and in no way shape or form did you abuse the power plant. Sigh...

I'm reasonably pleased with a P4 finish. I didn't expect to challenge Clive or Sergio also in the little French puddle-jumpers. Any progress over my qualifying performance would be down to good luck for me, bad luck for others. Xug's screen shot tells the story of his race. Lucky to place ahead of him on pace alone.

Off to Reims next. Going to be a thriller!

En Madrid hice un par de sesiones y llegué a hacer un 51 alto y a dejar un setup aceptable para la carrera. El lunes, ya aquí en Portugal, preparé el ordenador para la carrera, -montar el circuito y meterle mi setup madrileño- y ver que tal se da con este look (regardez las ruedas):




Di unas vueltas, y me reservé para el martes, que hice un tiempo guapo en la Q4, creo que salía 3º. Me tomé con calma la carrera, y en seguida vi que me quedaba detrás de Tago, que se escapaba poco a poco y delante del grupo que se iba quedando atrás.

Con algún error, pero buen ritmo, conseguí mantenerme a pocos segundos de Tago, con la vaga esperanza de que algún despiste suyo me permitiera acercarme. Y justo pasada la mitad de la carrera, veo en T1 que va por fuera de la pista, pero no se reincorpora... se ha quedado sin coche. Como siempre, esa decepción que se nos queda cuando vemos a otro dejarse el coche de la forma que sea. No se si fue por las revoluciones de tu 1ª marcha, pero yo por si acaso me había puesto una 1ª de 133 km/h yendo a tope, (en carrera no llegas ahí).

Como el circuito no tiene árboles, solo era cuestión de no hacer el burro y aguantar, pero tampoco de irse aburriendo -la vuelta rápida fue en lap 20- así que conseguí terminar sin mucho estrés, porque los de atrás ibais liaos con lo vuestro.

Enhorabuena a los que acabasteis, y a Tago por su... todo menos lo del motor!



In Madrid I did a couple of sessions and I got to make a high 51 and leave an acceptable setup for the race. On Monday, here in Portugal, I prepared the computer for the race, -mount the circuit and put my Madrid setup- and see how it is with that look (look that tires!):


I did a few laps, and I booked for Tuesday, which I made a good time in Q4, I think it was 3rd. I calmly took the race, and immediately I saw that I was behind Tago, who was gradually escaping and in front of the group that was falling behind.

With some error, but good rhythm, I managed to keep a few seconds of Tago, with the vague hope that some mistake allowed me to approach. And just after half of the race, I see in T1 that it goes outside the track, but does not return ... has run out of car. As always, that disappointment that we have left when we see another leave the car in any way. I don't know if it was because of the revolutions of your 1st gear, but just in case I had put a 1st of 133 km/h going to the top, (in the race you don't get there).

As the track has no trees, it was only a matter of not making the donkey and holding on, but neither of getting bored - the fast lap was in lap 20 - so I managed to finish without much stress, because behind you were going with your own.

Congratulations to those who finished, and Tago for his ... everything but the engine!

Olvidé deciros, ayer recibí una tarjeta gráfica como la mía (una Radeon 4670 de 1 GB) que vendía en internet un tío de Lisboa por 25 € (+5 por el envío), que ya es casualidad. Ya está montada y probada, así que Reims lo corro en condiciones.


Forgot to tell you, yesterday I received a graphic card, just the same as mine -second hand- that a guy in Lisbone sold in internet (25€ + 5 for shipping). It is already assembled and tested, so Reims I will race in normal conditions.

You should get a much smoother ride with round tyres!
