NUTS! Q got sideways in front of me and I couldn't miss him. A slight touch sent me to the T3 wall. The Gordini turned turtle. Game over.

LOL

That was a surprise to me also as I uploaded the results on GPL Weekly!

Gutted!
Managed P2 with the Gordini and held 3rd after the start. I think that I hit the front on lap two and to my surprise started to pull away.
I spent most of the race lifting early for T1 and T3 and short shifting on the straights.
With five laps to go a lapse of concentration caused me almost put it in the wall at T4 but I managed to keep it away from anything solid.
With a lead of around 900m, the engine went pop as I approached the s/f line to start my last lap and by the time that I finished I was 4th.

Bugger it!

EDIT: I think it was the downshifts that did the damage. :(

I returned to Madrid on Thursday, for family reasons, so with my good PC I was able to train this track.

On Monday's qualification I had an acceptable setup, which I ruined by modifying it on Tuesday afternoon. Looking at the setups of the previous week I saw one that put “1xxxx good for race” and another that put “1xxxxx very good for race”, so I took the “very good” and I planted in Q4. And it worked, the car was going very well. In the third round I had already taken a distant slipstream from Tago, and I got the pole time. Then I saw that Clive was carrying mine, something far away, but less, and I endured another lap to see if behind me he also got something, but although it came down from 05, he failed to improve my time. As I had to dinner, I left there.

In the chat, before the race, Sergio said he had lengthened the fourth gear a lot. I did not give at that time the importance of the comment.

I did a good start, but immediately the slipstreams made their own and I found at the end of the field, but very quiet hoping that we would alternate positions throughout the race. Well, no, for some mysterious reason, I was unable to overtake the Gordinis, who were effectively pulled by the Lancia and Ferrari, that were also benefited at first from Clive's Connaught.

I started to worry, because I saw that Clive was leaving and the group could not follow him. I had to try to overtake.

In lap 8 I get ahead of Doni, but when I get to T3 I get so close to Tago, and correcting, I step on the grass and spin. Doni goes right behind and hits me on the back right and eats the wall. My stomach is already bad for the rest of the race (do you remember, Xug?). I pass by s/f line 7 seconds from the group, and on lap 14 I catch them again. In 15, in T1, I try to make Sergio an impossible interior (I thought his car would open and mine didn't?) and threw him against the wall while I spun along the track. His car severely damaged. My stomach gets worse

From there, I try to pull him with my slipstream in case he has had luck and the car has endured him and I stay at a distance where he can have it, but the car has it badly and in turns it loses time. I try many laps, until 10 remained, I think Tago, who is just over 5 seconds ahead, also has the right to have fun and I'm going for him. In 4 laps I catch him, and we make a few laughs in the remaining laps, but although I pair with him a couple of times, I do not take my gear long enough to take advantage of the slipstream well and although it helps me to make the fastest race lap behind him, he does not give to overtake him. And also he made no mistakes.

Arriving at the finish line I stopped to wait Sergio, not just because of the race incident itself, but for having spoiled the fun he had guaranteed not to have put the absolutely avoidable wiggle.

Sorry to all for running like an elephant in a pot shop, lack of experience in this track. To Doni and Sergio for it, and to the others because with Doni and Sergio on track, the fun would have been different. The truth is that I did not understand that with the slipstreams the car did not run as expected and I was a little clueless.

Congratulations Tago and Clive, great race, just like Xug, while it lasted!

I did it like you Clive, and my engine held up well ...

:amor: :amor: :amor: :amor: :amor: :amor: :amor: :besos: :besos: :besos: :besos: :besos: :besos: :besos: .

PD : Quico I love you so much !!!

Fun career in Indianapolis despite the kiss that Quico gave me at Gordini. Tron, if you want something more "serious" with me, it is better that we see ourselves outside the circuits, so we can touch each other without bodies in between .

At that time I had a very nice fight with Tagomago, when you came to us it was even better, too bad it didn't last long. With the fourth speed stretched to infinity, the Gordini got impressive tow and I even think I put myself first at some point in the race (I'm not sure ). It worked when I was behind a car, bone, until Quico showed me his love, but when I had to roll alone, it was like carrying an elephant in the cockpit. In addition I was badly stopped in the accident and I had a hard time entering the curves as I had done so far, very closed on the inside shoulder.
Quico left and I was alone. Wishing the race was over, on my last lap, I saw a Gordini in the distance; "It must be Clive who has already finished his career and is going around with honor" and I continued to finish mine. When I reached the finish line and saw that it was P2, I understood what had happened, or gasoline or engine .....
When I entered the finish line, I saw Quico's car in the background and had internal thoughts again: "Quico has already crossed the finish line and stopped to get out of the car and wait for me with a bouquet of red roses" . But when I reached his height I checked that he had stopped just before the line and that he was giving me the second place ¡¡MUCH BETTER THAN THE ROSES !!!! . It was not necessary Quico, sometimes it's you and other times too . No, seriously, don't do it again, because then our love will be stronger than steel!

My congratulations to Tago who marked a car, without failures and enduring my celestial blue horsefly for a long time: please:: please:: please: and my condolences to Clive for his bad luck; Don't worry, you sold it out on Tuesday.
Doni, Xug, Buenos Aires will be for you .

Thanks Sergio, love letters were not read like this in this forum since the time when Karakol wrote them to nes, I suppose that the product of affectionate race encounters like ours. If this continues, we will end up having to run behind closed doors, as races would be censored.
Anyway I notice you very sensitive, since the touch was lateral. I don't want to imagine your letter if it becomes behind. You send me the family with the shotgun to marry you :bendigo: .

What a fine and popular victory for Tago! Well done, amigo! Sure, it was a bit lucky thanks to Clive's dreadful misfortune but as the man once said, 'I'd rather be lucky than good any day.'

Sergio cops P2 in a gift from Q. Shades of Ahvenisto in our GP65 races last season.

Clive at least managed to limp into P4. Scant reward for a dominating drive. Condolences on that.

Xug having a great run til his engine gave out. My early and dramatic exit due to someone else's error. Shades of our GP65 race at Watkins Glen last season.
Those who do not learn from history will be condemned to relive its mistakes.
