Thanks for the information.

I was hoping to come and spy on your practice session but I missed it. :(

My best ever training time at Mexico in the Eagle is a 1:49.7 but I'm probably one or two seconds slower than that at the moment.

Expect Pelle will be in the 1:48s!!!! At least!

EDIT: He was in the 1:47s last season!

There were four people trying to use the server this evening but they were having problems because it was on 36fps.

Hard luck Quico.

But the Repco engine is Australian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repco

Ooopps! Just realised you were in a Cooper! In that case it was a Maseratti engine!

I've been watching the top rpm with the gearchangeanalyser del GPLRA of the first 4 laps of Sergio and me, and found no reason for my car was broken and Sergio's was flying. Some suspicion of some ham from Sergio to the mechanics of our box...

The fact is that you have got rid of me, when I had here a good rhythm with reliable driving...

Congratulations to all of you who enjoyed the race

Guess that I can add that to my list of lucky wins!

I couldn't stay away from the Armco in qually and ended up 3rd on the grid. I made an awful start and was passed by a host of cars on the way to T1.

I hugged the inside and made it through T1 and T2 without hitting anything or anybody!

It took me until lap three to use the speed of the Eagle to pass Trooper and I was able to nab Sergio on the next lap.

Tago's Brabham eventually received the same treatment at the start of lap six.

By then Quico had pulled off with a dead Maseratti engine in his Cooper, so that left me in 2nd spot.

By mid race I had about eight seconds over the scrap between Tago and Sergio for 3rd but that's when the rot set in! My Eagle was reving its nuts off down the straight and so I decided that I needed to try to save the engine. I tried several methods but they all had one thing in common. They ensured that I arrived at T1 not knowing what the hell I was doing! This resulted in several scrapes along the Armco but whilst slight damage was registered, I was able to carry on.

After this "Driving Miss Daisey" eposode I suddenly found that Sergio had broken clear of Tago and was approaching at speed!

With a few laps left, I noticed that there were some strange tyre marks on the approach to some corners. It never thought for a minute that Pelle might be the artist but with a couple of laps to go he was only 200 meters up the road. The trouble was that sergio had almost caught me!

Getting past the stricken Torro Grosso was tricky, as it seemed to park in the left-handers and then drift out to the outside of the corner, giving me nowhere to go. He would then go back to full racing speed for the right-handers!

On lap 19, my efforts not to hit Pelle pushed me off the circuit and then Sergio arrived and tried to go around the outside of me as we approached the following right-hander. We touched and Sergio, being on the outside, visited the wall. (I have checked and I was allowing Sergio more than half the track to use when we touched.)

It took me until the last left-hander of the last lap to finally time my run on Pelle to get past. Having let him do his shuffle off to the right I was able to turn inside him and out drag him to the last corner. But only just!

He was all over me as we crossed the line and Sergio was pretty close too.

Thanks to PDLR for a great night's entertainment.
